ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROJECT
ABOUT US
DISABILITY RIGHTS OREGON (DRO) promotes OPPORTUNITY, ACCESS & CHOICE for individuals with disabilities. We assist people with legal representation, advice and information
designed to help solve problems directly related to their disabilities. All of our services are confidential and free of charge.
ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY
Assistive technology (AT) is an umbrella term for any device or
system that allows improved functional independence for a person with a
disability.
ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROJECT
The Assistive Technology Project promotes independence, access and inclusion at home and in the community, including:
IN SCHOOL
AT WORK
AT THE DOCTOR’S OFFICE
IN THE COURTHOUSE
WHILE VOTING
WE ALSO ADVOCATE FOR INDIVIDUALS TO GET MEDICALLY NECESSARY ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY.
Our advocacy may include representation in legal proceedings. This usually requires documentation from a doctor corroborating the need for a particular type of assistive technology.
If assistive technology is necessary for a child in special education, it should be identified as such and included in the child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
